How a fridge regas works
We confirm the charge is low
The technician checks the frost pattern, the compressor and the system pressure. If the fault is a fan, a thermostat or a defrost part, we repair that instead.
We find and repair the leak
The joints and pipework are checked with a leak detector or a pressure test. The joint is brazed, or the leaking pipe is replaced.
We replace the filter drier and vacuum
A new filter drier goes in every time the system is opened. A vacuum pump then removes air and moisture from the pipework.
We recharge by weight and test
The fridge is filled with the gas type and the grams shown on the rating plate. It is run and checked before the technician leaves.

How long does fridge gas last?
Fridge gas lasts the life of the fridge in a sealed system. The compressor circulates the same refrigerant again and again and does not use it up. Gas is lost only through a leak.
Can I regas a fridge myself with a regas kit?
No. The charge must be weighed in grams, and the system must be vacuumed first. R600a refrigerant is flammable, and a top-up without a leak repair leaks out again. A regas is work for a refrigeration technician.
