What is your stove doing?
Pick the symptom. The parts that usually cause it turn orange in the drawing.
One plate not heating
The plate element, the energy regulator behind that knob or the connector block under the plate has failed. On a ceramic hob a failed limiter also leaves the zone cold.
In the drawing: Plate element, Energy regulator, Connector block, Limiter.
Knob does not change the heat
The energy regulator behind the knob has failed. It gives full heat on every setting, or none. If a plate stays on with the knob at off, switch off at the wall isolator at once.
In the drawing: Energy regulator, Control knob.
Plate cuts in and out
A loose connection at the connector block overheats and burns, often with a burning smell. On a ceramic hob a failed limiter cuts the zone out early.
In the drawing: Connector block, Wiring, Limiter.
Nothing on the stove works
The wall isolator switch or the stove breaker is off. Reset it once. If the stove stays dead, the isolator, terminal block or wiring has failed.
In the drawing: Terminal block, Wiring.
Cracked glass top
The glass seals the live elements below from spills. A crack lets liquid reach them. Stop using the hob and switch off at the isolator.
In the drawing: Glass top.
Sparking when switched on
Sparking usually points to a wiring or element fault. Switch the stove off at the wall straight away.
In the drawing: Wiring, Plate element.
Oven not heating
After a power outage the clock can hold the oven off until it is set. If the clock is set, an element, the thermostat or the selector switch has failed.
In the drawing: Top element, Bottom element, Thermostat, Selector switch.

Stove repair questions
How much does a stove repair cost?
The call-out fee is R450, and it falls away if you go ahead with the repair. The price of the repair depends on the fault and the part. The technician confirms your exact price in writing before any work starts.
Can you repair my stove today?
Yes. We offer same-day service and we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 010 065 1780 and we will tell you the earliest slot for your suburb.
Do you repair the stove at my home?
Yes. The technician comes to you and does the repair on site.
Why are my stove plates not getting hot enough?
Stove plates that are not getting hot enough have a failed coil, a faulty regulator or poor contact with the pot. Test with a flat, heavy-based pot that covers the plate first. If the plate is still slow, it needs to be tested by a technician.
Why is my induction hob not detecting pots?
An induction hob heats only when it detects a pan with a magnetic base, so the pot itself is usually the cause. If the hob does not detect any of your pots, the coil module or the control board is at fault.
What guarantee do I get on a stove repair?
Every repair carries a 3-month guarantee on workmanship.
