Defy error codes

Defy Washing Machine Error Codes

Your Defy top loader shows a code such as E1, E2 or E3. On Defy machines the same code can mean different things on different models, so this page lists the codes for each model separately. Check the model number on the sticker at the back or under the lid first.

Quick answer

On the Defy DTL 160, E1 means slow water intake, E2 means slow draining, E3 an unbalanced load and E6 an open lid. On the DTL 153, E1 is a continuous draining alarm, E3 an unbalanced spin and E4 means the water level was not reached. Most of these you can check yourself. Overflow, frequency and water level sensor codes need a technician.
